The Aiki-jujutsu discipline of HEKOBA (Hellenic Koryu Bugei Association) was presented in Greece in 2000 to a small group of trainees in the beautiful island of Rhodes.
The main purpose is the development of osmotic relationships between the Hellenic (Greek) and the Japanese civilization, not only at the level of Budo, but also at the level of cultural contact. In this vision we find warm support not only from HEKOBA members, but also from other authorities such as the Japanese Embassy in Greece, etc During the previous 3 years the Hellenic Koryu Bugei Association having a frankly collaboration with other authorities is organizing events and other activities having the purpose of providing the Japanese culture in particular. Moreover, the Administration has already come in contact with trainers coming from various martial arts and combat sports from other cities of Greece and has set the foundations for co-operation, aiming to spread aiki-jujutsu (kohshninkan dojo) in them as well. |

Alexandroupolis Sports Club for Traditional Martial Arts was the legal entity that allowed the Association to make its first steps. Afterwards, following the statutory procedures, the Hellenic Takeda-Ryu Association was founded and received the relevant licences and recognitions from the State to develop and promote aiki-jujutsu in Greece as well as to perform its cultural activities.
The
Hellenic
Koryu Bugei
Association (HEKOBA)
is the
new authority that operates with under this new legal form whereas its goal
has been previously described.
At the same time and as a mean to achieve its goal,
the Association organizes various cultural events in collaboration with
other authorities and organizations. The base of the Hellenic Koryu Bugei Association is located in the beautiful city of Alexandroupolis. Furthermore the Association has spread in other cities of Greece thanks to the local instructors, who work very hard in order to establish a field of traditional martial arts with distinctive structures, clear goals, hierarchy, discipline, vision, knowledge and of course historical reference points. The accomplishment of this goal is achieved through short as well a long term planning, the completion of training, the retrospection of the seminars’ results, intensive training programs and the examination cards. At the same time by collaborating and coordinating with other organizations and authorities the cultural activity is being promoted in multiple levels, beyond that of athletics, aiming to a wider goal, that of human and cultural contact and interaction |
